California Dreamin’ Readings
Readings of Breathing Under Water, by Craig Harris
California Building, Studio 212
2205 California Street NE, Minneapolis, MN 55418

For California Dreamin’ 2026, Craig Harris will host readings of his short story “Breathing Under Water,” recently published by Art to Change the World in the book Aging as an Artform, a compilation of short stories by 9 authors who embraced and celebrated their lived experiences both in the past and as they look toward the future, drawing on the participants’ experiences with the elderly.
“Breathing Under Water” follows Craig’s experiences traveling to the West Bank, Palestinian Territories, to visit Craig and Candy’s daughter and family living under occupation in Bethlehem, and it explores returning to the USA to face our own form of military occupation during the first several months of 2026. Candy’s digital illustrations provide a complementary visual narrative for Craig’s story in the book.
The readings will take place in the Legacy Dream Space multimedia living room, presenting an immersive environment incorporating projected imagery from Candy Kuehn’s digital illustrations created as a visual narrative to accompany Craig’s story. Other authors from the book may also be present to read their stories as part of the program.
Candy’s digital illustrations will be available for sale, and books will be available for signing and purchase.

SHExclusive (SHE) Jewelry
The weekend event series will feature guest artist Susan Horowitz, the creative force behind SHExclusive (SHE) Jewelry — a distinctive collection of bold, sculptural, one-of-a-kind wearable art.
Drawing inspiration from cultures, stones and materials from around the world, Susan brings together natural stones, semi-precious materials, and imaginative design. Some creations are personally designed and handcrafted; others are thoughtfully, curated, and assembled from carefully selected elements.
Each piece reflects her eye for texture, color, and unexpected beauty — and her belief that jewelry should be as individual as the person who wears it.
